‘Ring 24 News
The upcoming next round of the German Endurance Championship on
May 20 will be the last test before the 24 hour race in mid-June.
We can expect a packed grid as teams and drivers are getting ready
for the German classic.
The May 20 race will also be the premiere for Raeder
Motorsport's newly-built Lamborghini Gallardo; the team has now
released the first images of this car (below)
Audi does not have a works project this year but
the factory drivers are free to join other teams for the 'Ring 24.
2005 FIA GT Champion and Spa 24 Hours winner Timo Scheider and his
Audi stable mate Frank Stippler have teamed up with VLN regulars
Patrick Simon and Marc Basseng at Land Motorsport and will drive
the Porsche 996 GT3 RSR. Jürgen Alzen Racing has added Christian
Abt to its line-up: he will share the Porsche 997 with Jürgen
and Uwe Alzen, and Klaus Ludwig.
In the meantime,
Subaru will once again send a WRC factory driver to Germany to drive
an Impreza WRX. Australia's the 24 Hours will be the circuit racing
debut for 26 year old Australian Chris Atkinson.
