Subaru For The VLN
Oxfordshire-based engineering company Autosportif is preparing a Subaru Impreza STI – in the guise of the Subaru Endurance Racing Team - for the Nurburgring 24 Hours, along with all rounds of the 2006 VLN BFGoodrich Langstrecken Meisterschaft series, with the car to be driven by ‘Ring specialists Phil Bennett and Marc Duez.

The car will appear in the famous blue Subaru livery.

The Subaru Endurance Racing Team will be the focus of an hour long feature TV programme charting the rigours of competitive motorsport through initial car build, testing, development and the 24 hour race.

A second car will be available for independent drivers to evaluate, either for the full championship or for individual rounds.

MD of Autosportif Martyn Spurrell, himself a Nurburgring racer, explains that “we have been building Subaru rally cars for more than 15 years and have enjoyed success at every level of rallying. We have long believed that the Subaru has the potential to be an endurance racer and the Nurburgring is without doubt, the best proving ground. This is a very exciting development for Autosportif and the pedigree of our two drivers is without question. We are looking forward to the first race.”

“We know our Gp N Impreza is strong, powerful and reliable in rallies,” said Subaru’s George Donaldson, “and now with this team demonstrating the Impreza's great motorsport pedigree in one of the toughest race event series that exists, we hope to see more race programmes develop with the car.”
