Third Night Race, V8s For 2005, No Belcar For Willhire
The European Endurance
and Racing Club (EERC) has added a third night race to its 2004
calendar, complementing the races already planned at Donington (November
6), and Brands Hatch (November 20).
Croft is the venue, on
Saturday, October 23: the two hour event will start at around 6.30
pm, having been immediately preceded by a 45-minute qualifying session,
which will start in daylight but end in darkness, thus fulfilling
requirements for practice in night conditions.
“The BARC came
to me with the idea,” said series boss James Tucker. “This
will be the first ever night race at Croft, and should be a blinder!”
Britcar 2005 will see
a new class introduced - for large-capacity V8 saloons, such as
the Vauxhall Monaro, Ford Falcon, MG ZT, and the new retro-style
Ford Mustang. The cars should typically cost around £30-35,000
in road-going trim.
24 Hours in September 2005 will not see the Belcar runners coming
across the Channel, owing to the proximity of their own 24-hour
race, at Zolder. However, Belcar will be having a race in the UK
- at the early-summer meeting on the Brands Hatch GP circuit (June
1/2/3), where they will complement a full weekend of EERC racing.
