Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race Today
The Sepang GP track is the scene of a 12 hour endurance event today, the Merdeka Millennium Endurance event.

Genji Hashimoto, Norman Simon and Charles Kwan are the favourites to take the win, the German driver duly putting the car on pole position with a 2:06.181 lap – and his team-mates set the second and third fastest times, both in the 2:09 bracket. They’re driving the Amprex Motorsport Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT, the car that races in the JGTC.

"The Lamborghini is being prepared for next year's Le Mans 24 Hours,” indicated Genji Hashimoto.

Sitting next to the Murcielago will be the G1 Symphony Racing Team’s Porsche 911 GT3-RS, driven by Eric Yeo, Firhat Mokhzani and Chin Tzer Jinn. Yeo set this car’s qualifying time, a 2:20.573 – so it looks as though the Lamborghini should have things all its own way, if it is reliable. The Yeo / Mokhzani / Jinn Porsche won last year’s race, by just about a lap from another Porsche.

Over 70 cars are expected to take the start.
