Marino For The ‘Ring
Marino Franchitti has been at Indianapolis for the last few days,
supporting his brother’s efforts in the Indy 500.
The timing of his pit
stops ultimately prevented Dario from a securing a top ten (or better)
finish, but his younger brother returns to Europe this week, knowing
that he has a really solid drive lined up for the Nurburgring 24
Hours. Marino will be partnered with another chap who might initially
have thought he would be in France in the second week of June…
car (right) is a Land Motorsport Porsche GT3, but with all the 2004
Porsche updates. The other three drivers are Marc Basseng, Patrick
Simon and… Franz Konrad. When did he last race a Porsche?
Wolfgang Land is a former Carerra Cup Champion (twice), but stood
down from driving - we think in about 1997 (not at the end of last
“Over the moon,”
was the Scot’s reaction. Would this scenario have evolved
had a certain LMP2 team secured a Le Mans entry though…?
