FFSA GT - Lédenon – Race 1 (Saturday)
David Hallyday and Bruno Besson took the win in the first race of the weekend for the GTs, in the Force One Viper. For the first time in their careers, both men were winners in the FFSA GT Championship, to Philippe Alliot’s great delight.

Dumez / Blanchemain and Thévenin / Bornhauser were also on the podium. In the N-GT trophy, the Demigneux brothers started their season with a win, while Dedours / Makowiecki were winners in the FFSA GT French Cup. The thirty-eight drivers came to the start of the season’s third race under a hazy sun.

David Hallyday (Force One Viper) was somewhat surprised by Romain Bera (PSI Porsche 996 Biturbo) at the start, but the #19 Porsche driver had an off at the exit of the triple left corner. Gérard Bleynie Mirabeau Viper – and Team Owner-), opportunistically took advantage of that to take the lead. Bleynie had then to contain Hallyday who was threatened by Blanchemain and Bornhauser. But the Mirabeau Compétition boss was unfortunately surprised by his braking balance on the second lap … so David Hallyday inherited the lead, with the only objective to widen a gap on his followers. Behind the singer-driver, Blanchemain, Bornhauser and Dupard (with difficulty) the latter more and more at ease with his Ferrari 550 Maranello.

After 15 minutes, Bornhauser and Dupard succeeded in passing Blanchemain and raised their pace. Soon after, the Ferrari driver succeeded in overtaking the VBM Viper of Bornhauser and strode forward towards David Hallyday who was still leading the race. Just before the driver changes period, Olivier Dupard took the lead for a few moments. All the frontrunners chose to pit early; only Romain Bera, who had moved up well after his mistake, stayed on the track until the permitted limit.

dailysportscar.comBruno Besson (Force One) now had the lead, ahead of Thévenin (VBM), Dumez (Larbre Viper), Goueslard (Larbre Ferrari) and Zangarelli (Mirabeau Viper). The Force One driver took advantage of the fight between Thévenin and Dumez to open up a ten seconds gap that he was to save until the end. Behind him, we had to wait until the closing laps to see Dumez passing Thévenin, troubled by his 60 kgs ballast. Bruno Besson and David Hallyday gave Force One Racing its fourth FFSA GT win, the first one for both men in the FFSA GT Championship. Dumez / Blanchemain and Thévenin / Bornhauser completed the podium. Thévenin / Bornhauser kept their lead in the Championship standings, 26 points ahead of Dumez / Blanchemain.

The Demigneux brothers were winners of their first race in the N-GT Trophy. The end of the race was enlivened by Christian Demigneux and Morgan Moullin-Traffort who eventually finished second, two and a half seconds behind.

The French Cup went to Dedours / Makowiecki.

David Hallyday: “Before the race, we had chosen a strategy to widen a gap without using our tyres too much. I set a good pace, which allowed me to give a good car to Bruno. Then he drove a great stint, being reliable and steady. It’s our first FFSA GT win, we’re very happy with this result.”

Sébastien Dumez: “I made my stint neck to neck with Thévenin, who was ahead, so he had to charge more than me, that’s why I could pass him at the end of my stint. It is very important to score big points.”
