The 12 Hours Of Spa
Faure forwards details of a new event for this year – 12 hours
around Spa, on May 15.
The race follows
the general rules of the 2003 mile race held at Spa-Francorchamps
last year (photo). The race promoter, the PRC Group, intends to
make this a major motor sport festival: “We want to offer
a maximum amount of pleasure to a maximum number of teams on a track
providing a maximum amount of sensation!” says its statement.
The event is open to
Touring Cars of all descriptions, plus GTs with engines smaller
than 4 litres. The target lap time around Spa is 2 minutes 30 secs.,
with a threat to add ballast to cars lapping in under 150 seconds.
Teams can use two, three
or four drivers per car, and unlike the 2003 miles, refuelling will
not take place at a regular fuel pump, but in the pits, as in a
typical endurance event.
The race will start at
14.00 hours on the Saturday and finish at 02.00 on Sunday. The entry
fee is 2000 Euros, plus VAT.
