After failing to source an Audi R8 (for the LMES / Le Mans), Racing
Engineering is now working hard to develop a programme for the Spanish
GT championship – writes Sergio Fonseca.
The team received a proposal
to run a SEAT Cupra GT, but this project is apparently very expensive:
an alternative is to build a Hyundai Silhouette. The team is waiting
for Hyundai Spain to come to a decision. Ni Amorim and the former
Formula 3 driver Lourenço Beirão da Veiga will probably
share one car – of whatever marque the team races.
and Armando Paes will not race for JvG Racing next season. Instead,
the Portuguese "gentleman drivers" will drive the ASM
Team's second Porsche 911 GT3-R (#88 car at the Rolex 24) in the
Spanish GT Championship.
(the team has won the Portuguese rally championship in the past
with Pedro Matos Chaves in a Corolla WRC) is considering entering
a brand new Ferrari 360 GTC in the Spanish series. The team is searching
for suitable drivers before confirming the project.
and GT Sport are very interested in the new Formula X, the van Diemen
sportscar (it can also be converted into a single seater) that will
race in a support series to the LMES. Pareja is interested in running
the cars as a support series to the Spanish GT Championship.
