The Lavaggi LS1
Giovanni Lavaggi this evening unveiled his self-designed LMP1 contender due to debut at the Donington Park Le Mans Series race.

The LS1, presented in the principality of Monaco’s red and white racing colours, is powered by a 6 litre Ford V8 tuned by PME in the USA, the engine currently installed was reportedly sourced as an ex Saleen unit from Franz Konrad. The LS1 also features a 6 speed box also designed by Lavaggi himself and built by Hewland. the car will be driven by the designer / builder and another, as yet unannounced driver.

Giovanni Lavaggi: “The purchase cost for cars like this is usually very high so component and running costs are important.

“The HB is a good and very reliable engine that is well known to many tuners. The running costs are therefore very good by comparison with other available packages.

“I believe we will have a fast, reliable and competitive car that could attract some customer interest and I am certainly ready to talk to anybody who would like to discuss this.”
