Spyker To Return With Bleekemolen & Crevels
The Dutch Spyker team will return to the LMES at the Nurburgring
next month, when it fields its unique C8 Spyder for the highly rated
duo of Jeroen Bleekemolen and Donny Crevels. The Nurburgring 1000
km race will see the open-topped GT2 car back in action for the
first time since its fiery exit at the 24 hours of Le Mans in June.
The factory team's hopes for a much more positive
outing at the German track are high after a satisfactory two-day
test at a test track in the north of Germany. This was also Bleekemolen's
first taste of the Dutch machine, which showed much more promise
at Le Mans this year than its predecessors.
"Of course it's early days for me to completely
judge the C8 Spyder, but the overall feel of the car is good,"
indicated Jeroen Bleekemolen. "It has all the aspects needed
to make it a good car, now these 'only' need to be put together.
The main thing we're after isn't speed though, it's a reliable run
at Nurburging. If we get that, then we are in contention for a good
result, but that's easier said than done, and it will require all
of us to be on top of our game. For me personally it's also a good
opportunity to show what I can do in a GT car."
Bleekemolen and Crevels covered 375 km today (August
19), following Tom Coronel’s adventures on Thursday.
The Spyker team
is due a good result, as it has been a colourful and enthusiastic
addition to the GT ranks over the past few years. In the hands of
the fast and reliable Crevels and Bleekemolen, it might just get
a podium in GT2, a result that would make all the difference to
the small Dutch marque.
