More Honours For McNish
It was wonderful to have him back, wasn't it? Comments from the Scot certainly added to our coverage of the LMES meeting immensely - and as he suggested at luchtime on Saturday, wet weather did swing the balance towards the Audi R8 in the race.

dailysportscar.comHe didn't want it as wet as that though! Allan McNish was one of many to comment in strong terms about the way the dangers the drivers faced last Saturday: we'll attempt to incorporate other views into a round up the third event of the 2005 LMES, later this week.

It wasn't just the winners' trophy that Allan McNish received at Silverstone though.

The ACO's President, Jean-Claude Plassart, presented the popular Scot with the trophy for the highest placed British driver at Le Mans - at Silverstone on Friday. This is the Club Des Pilotes Eric Thompson Trophy, in recognition of third place in the 73rd running of the 24 Hours. Doubtless he'll win the race again one day - perhaps running on DERV.

No Le Mans winner's trophy this year, but Saturday's (almost) six hour event was comparable to a 24 hour race - but crammed into a quarter of the time.
