Simonsen – James Watt Porsche in the 1000 Kms
dailysportscar.comPaul Daniels’ partner in the #98 James Watt Automotive Porsche this weekend will be Danish driver Allan Simonsen.

dailysportscar played a small but significant part in helping to place the Dane in this entry, and we’ll be following the upward progress of the #98 911 GT3-RS with interest.

“We’re looking forward to Allan helping us in several ways,” comments Paul Daniels, “starting with finding a good set-up, then getting us further up the grid. It’s great having a professional on board. We’re very optimistic.”

Simonsen gave none other than fellow Dane Tom Kristensen as a reference, and the seven times Le Mans winner responded with the comment that “I’ve only got good things to say about Allan.”

dailysportscar.comThe younger Dane will also be racing Hector Lester’s Ferrari 360 in the British GT event this weekend. He’s had an up and down career over the past year or two, earning an income in the V8Utes in Australia – but keen to make his mark in GT racing. A Le Mans drive this year didn’t quite come off, but this weekend might be the start of his international sportscar career proper.

He and David Brabham won the Bahrain Festival last November, in the Coopers Ales Ferrari 550, but he first came to our attention at the 2003 Bathurst 24 Hours – where he was spectacularly fast, and brave, in an Andrew Smith / Mark Coffey Lamborghini.

Here's the #98 Porsche in the pit-lane this morning.
