Leuenberger – Belmondo Viper
”As far as I know I will drive with Pierre Perret and Jean-Baptiste
Emeric,” says Benjamin Leuenberger – of the news that
he’s had a late call-up to drive the Belmondo Racing Viper,
at Spa this weekend.
last caught up with him at the Paul Ricard test days, where Creation
Autosportif called on his services for its 24 hour test with the
DBA Judd (because third driver at Le Mans, Andy Wallace, was Grand
Am racing that weekend). Leuenberger (in the car, right) ended up
driving the DBA through the night, from approximately midnight until
4.30am (apart from a rest while the car was looked at) – which
gave Nic Minassian and JC-W a good night’s sleep.
“I didn’t expect to get a call like
this only two days away from the first free practice at Spa,”
says the 22 year old Swiss.
“It is great to get the chance to race there.
With Paul Belmondo Racing I’ll have a well established and
successful team behind me, which gives me a lot of confidence. The
competition will be very tough but with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R
we should have a reliable and fast car.”
