T2M’s Star Spa Line-Up
Yutaka Yamagishi is the relatively unknown driver (to Europeans) in Ietoshi Kaneko’s T2M Porsche at Spa this coming weekend. The Japanese Team Taisan driver is joined by none other than Alex Caffi and Xavier Pompidou, for the opening round of the LMES.

“Alex is new in our team,” says Kaneko. “He is a very experienced driver who knows endurance racing very well. Everybody knows how fast he is, especially with a Porsche. Xavier is a long time friend, he helped us a lot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003. It is not by chance that he brought the title to another stable (Sebah) last year.”

Pompidou was helping out the Sebah team at Paul Ricard recently, but the team’s RSR has all three seats filled for 2005.

“It will be Yamagishi’s first race in Europe," continues Kaneko. "I hope that he will appreciate racing in Europe and that he will be able to show us his good level. I would like to add that I wish good luck to Vanina Ickx, who often drove in our team and who will make her beginnings with a prototype at Spa (in a Rollcentre Dallara). I am sure that she’ll very quickly familiarize herself with this car and use her full potential."

Most of the TBAs for Spa are filled now. T2M has taken up the vacant spot at Le Mans in June, which became available after the withdrawal of the Nasamax. Here's the Porsche on the way to ninth in GT at Silverstone last year - after a few teething problems with an experimental, sequential gearshift system.
