Driver Round-Up
As the European season gets underway at Nogaro (FFSA) and Zolder (Belcar) this weekend, and the first events of the FIA GT Championship and LMES loom ever closer, here’s a round-up of the latest driver news in Europe.

Marc Goossens seems to be very close to a deal to race a Courage C60 H at Le Mans.

Vincent Vosse, already racing the Kuismanen Viper this weekend, will drive a Belmondo Courage C65 in the LMES, partnering Karim Ojjeh and Claude-Yves Gosselin. He will also compete in the second half of the FIA GT Championship, from Spa onwards. He will partner Gardel, Lamy and Mollekens in a Larbre Ferrari 550 in the Spa 24 Hours (the second Larbre entry will be driven by Calderari, Bryner and Bouvy) and after Spa, Vosse will replace Lilian Bryner in the other Larbre 550.

Sébastie Ugeux, the former Vertigo driver, will race a Villorbacorse Lucchini in the LMES.

The PSI Porsche 911 GT3-RSR is uncertain for this season’s LMES, remarks Markus Palttala.

JMB Racing has confirmed two Maserati MC 12s in the FIA GT Championship, in partnership with Pirelli and Red Bull. Andrea Bertolini, Karl Wendlinger and Philipp Peter will definitely race the MC12s, the fourth driver to be announced shortly. The team is testing somewhere in Italy on March 30-31, ahead of the opening round of the FIA GT Championship.

JMB will also be entering a Ferrari 575 in the LMES, and will enter three cars in the Italian GT Championship - a Ferrari 575 GTC to be driven by Lorenzo Case (a five time winner in 2004) and TBA, a Ferrari 360 for Maurizio Mediani and Dino D’Ambrosio and a second 360 for Albert von Thrn und Taxis and Stephen Earle.

Paolo Ruberti has signed to drive one of the GNM Saleens at Spa next month in the LMES event. He is already confirmed with the team for the FIA GT Championship.

Ruberti will drive with Nigel Smith / TBA. “It is likely that Gian Maria Gabbiani will drive either in this car or the second car with Rick Sutherland,” says Graham Nash. “I am looking for a quick good driver with budget to share what will be a front running GT1 car with two very accomplished drivers as team mates.”

Jumping ahead to Silverstone’s LMES race in August, Peter Kox will replace Tomas Enge in the MenX Ferrari 550 – partnering Robert Pergl. Kox will gain his first experience with the team at Paul Ricard on April 1-2. The GNM Saleens will be there too – as will a host of European GT and prototype teams. We’re expecting a fabulous entry (details to come) and dsc will cover both days of the Ricard test, with an in-depth look at a number of significant teams.
