Barron Connor’s Magazine
Mark Koense is the man behind the production of the three 2004 volumes of the Barron Connor Magazine – which is a record of both the racing team’s adventures in 2004, and also looks back to John Bosch’s career (he’s got quite a record in F3 and rallying for example).

dailysportscar.comThe 2004 story actually began on December 23, when John Bosch and Danny Sullivan shook down the first of the team’s Ferrari 575 GTCs, at Fiorano.

The tone of the text in the three magazines reflects the developing frustration with the 575s: it was all optimism before Sebring and Monza, but by Spa’s LMES race, the cars were acknowledged to be “far from competitive, and that not much was done about that by those who built these cars,” sums up John Bosch.

Second and third in the GTS Class of the LMES was some reward for a season's hard work and expense.

“Up until now we have only decided what we will not do (in 2005),” explains Mark Koense, “we need a little more time.”

One significant event we missed in 2004 is portrayed in the images on the right: John Bosch, Jan Lammers, Jacky Ickx and Rene Arnoux, each driving one of Bosch’s F1 Ferraris, at the Marlboro Masters meeting at Zandvoort last year.

This is Ickx, below, in the 1999 Ferrari - 33 years after his GP win at Zandvoort in the 312B2.

The magazines are not on general sale, alas. Among the photographers in these three beautifully produced items are Dave Lister and John Brooks.
