Any Room For A BV-R This Year?
Bobby Verdon-Roe raced the #8 Rollcentre Dallara Nissan at Le Mans last year – and is hopeful that there might still be an opening for him in the race this year.

He’ll be at Le Mans on Monday and Tuesday – so if anyone has an opening in their car….

BV-R had been under consideration for the vacant place in the #39 Chamberlain-Synergy Lola, after Angel Burgueno’s test day accident. His connection with the team dates back a long time.

“I had been in contact with the team since last year when Antonio Simoes, who I have known since we both drove for Andy Dawson in 1990 (he F3, me Formula Renault) told me one of his drivers, Miguel, was thinking of buying an LMP. I had a couple of meetings with Miguel, but he opted for a Spanish driver line up because of sponsorship opportunities.

“My teaming up with de Castro would have made sense as we finished second overall at Spa 24 hours together.”

That was in 2002, in Lister’s best result at the Belgian 24 hour race: BV-R raced with de Castro, David Sterckx and Justin Law.

Christophe Bouchut was among the winning crew at Spa that year, in a Larbre Viper, while third, and first in N-GT, were none other than Stephane Ortelli, Romain Dumas and Emmanuel Collard.

“I am going to come to Le Mans on Monday anyway, helmet and licence in hand, just in case something else comes up,” says BV-R (Tel. 351 91 619 0343).
