ORECA’s Change Of Plan
Oreca has issued a press release today, revealing a significant
change in the team’s plans for 2006 – writes David
Hughes De Chaunac
has indicated that the team, with its Saleens, is not yet ready
for the Le Mans 24 Hours, and has withdrawn its entry request.
The release points to delays in the programme: the
original aim was to start testing in January, but the first car
wasn’t received until March 1. Some parts of the car are not
"ready" for the 24 Hours and the time needed to receive
modified parts was too long.
Soheil Ayari and Stephane Ortelli will drive a Saleen at the Paul
Ricard HTTT this coming weekend, to be followed by a race debut
at the Spa 1000 Km in May, followed by the balance of the LMS season.
An ALMS race is possible at the end of the season.
The final list of accepted Le Mans entries is expected
next week: currently, the line-up includes just one S7R, of the
ACEMCO team, which is carrying out an extended test at Sebring today
(March 20) and tomorrow.
