Courage LC70 Update
Courage Competition’s Marketing Director, Claude Surmont,
was a busy fellow in the Sebring paddock, with three C65s to keep
an eye on during the Mobil 1 12 Hours event. Here he is with Andy
Lally, behind the Miracle C65.
Orlando Airport late on Sunday saw a chance (re)encounter
with the charming Claude, who confirms that Yves Courage’s
company is pressing ahead with its new LMP1s, with two destined
for the French factory team this year (fitted with Mugen V8s), another
Mugen-engined car destined for Japan, while the Swiss Spirit entry
will be Judd GV5 powered.
“The agreement with Mugen is for three years,”
explained Claude Surmont.
Mugen has taken the prototype world by surprise
in the past with the sudden appearance of a completely new version
of its powerful four litre V8. Our Japanese source suggests that
the (effectively) factory, Mugen effort in the Japan Le Mans Challenge
will be powered by a 4.5 V8.
