Eriksson In Ferrari Race
In Malibu

Stefan Eriksson competed at Le Mans last year, in the Cirtek Motorsport Ferrari 360 (with Rob Wilson and Joe Macari).

But on Tuesday this week, he was involved in an altogether different sort of race, when his Ferrari Enzo went out of control, headed up a bank, and was split in two when it hit a power or telephone pole. The engine and drive train were completely severed from the rest of the car - almost as if it was having a whole rear end change.

Eriksson suffered only a cut lip, and told police that he was a passenger in the car, which was driven by a German called Dietrich.

Dietrich fled the scene, according to Eriksson, into the Californian hills. He hasn't been seen since.

Eriksson had a blood-alcohol level of 0.09, which is above the legal limit. No one was arrested in connection with the crash, but officers are apparently still investigating the accident.

"He's still considered as the passenger," said a local police officer.
