Found At Le Mans
In the course of the civil engineering work that is being carried
out at the track (in the area of the Dunlop Curve), workmen came
across this World War Two bomb this week.
Mans was a specific target of allied bombing during the war, largely
because of the area's significance to the French rail network.
dsc's host at
our Arnage "gite" every year, Marc Laffeas, tells the
story of the roof being blown off his future home towards the end
of the war, after an allied bomb scored a direct hit on the level
crossing 100 metres away.
