PiR Compétition Pilbeam – Aiming For Le Mans
We listed the PiR Pilbeam yesterday, among those most likely to enter the Le Mans 24 Hours – and here Claude Foubert and David Legangneux forwards detail of Pierre Bruneau’s plans for his red Pilbeam MP84, as found in AutoHebdo today.

dailysportscar.comThe team's 2004 focus will be on the Le Mans 24 Hours and the four LMES rounds. Pierre Bruneau and Marc Rostan, who were regulars in the SR2 category of the FIA SCC last year, are currently having the Pilbeam MP84 upgraded to MP91 specification.

So significant aerodynamic changes are being carried out, and the team is planning on fitting either the JPX version of the 120° V6 engine, or Graham Dale-Jones’ IES version (as used in the Bucknum Pilbeams in the ALMS – badged as a Willman 6).

Dale-Jones was unavailable for comment, because he’s at Putnam Park near Indianapolis, where the Bucknum team is testing this week. A spokesman confirmed that IES is talking to Pierre Bruneau about use of the V6 engine.

The Frenchman is obviously hoping that all these upgrades will help with his application for an entry in LMP2 at the 24 Hours.
