Picchio At The Rolex 24?
A Picchio press release suggests that one of the company’s revised DPs will be racing in the Rolex 24 in a little under two weeks’ time.

Andrea Montermini and others were testing a revised chassis before Christmas, and ADi Motorsport from Virginia has purchased two chassis from the former G&W team, which ran a car throughout the first year of the Daytona Prototypes.

One of the DP prototypes, duly overhauled and properly updated, is now ready to take part in the upcoming 24 Hours of Daytona,’ says the Picchio statement.

The manufacturer is currently evaluating likely drivers – probably Italians – to race the car.

Within the year Picchio will be able to have four cars on the track: the three factory-supported “semi-official” ADi Motorsport cars and one directly managed by the Picchio factory,’ is the official plan for 2006.

Here's the G&W Picchio at Homestead in 2003 - where the car finished second in the DP Class, in a race which only four DPs started.
