Taylor To Race The Balfe Saleen
Balfe Motorsport has signed Nigel Taylor to partner Shaun Balfe in its Saleen S7R at the next round of the FIA GT Championship, at Paul Ricard in two weeks’ time.

Taylor raced for the team in 2004, when he and Shaun Balfe won the Spanish GT Championship, in the team’s Mosler MT900R. He's seen on the right receiving both winners' trophies after that championship season.

The arrangement is initially for the Ricard round only. However, both Nigel Taylor and the team will review the possibility of him racing at the following round, at Dijon, after next weekend’s event.

Taylor had a chance to try the car during a test at Pembrey earlier this week and the team was pleased with how he adapted to the car straight away.

“Nigel knows the team well and during his test he adapted to the Saleen very quickly and put in some really good lap times,” commented Shaun Balfe. “The last time we raced together at Paul Ricard was 1997 in a 500km race in a Caterham, which we won! So maybe we can have some more luck this time too.”

“The team has been far from idle while the rest of the grid was at Spa,” continued Shaun Balfe. “We’ve made some upgrades to the bodywork and there are a few areas in the set-up and in the cockpit that we’ve worked on that we hope will see us make the final push to be able to mix it with the rest of the field. We’re looking forward to seeing where we are at Paul Ricard.”
