Supercar Road Run, May 5
It’s just over a week until the start of the 2006 FIA GT season, with the RAC Tourist Trophy meeting at Silverstone - billed by SRO as a ‘Silverstone Supercar Showdown’, with the GT1 and GT2 main event supported by the brand new FIA GT3 Championship opener, and Ferrari and Maserati one make series support races.

As a curtain raiser (and no doubt in search of some mainstream media coverage) SRO, Silverstone and the RAC have organized a jolly morning out on Friday 5 May, for the lucky owners of a selection of roadgoing supercars - starting with breakfast at the RAC Club in London’s Pall Mall, followed by a leisurely (yeah right!) 80 mile non-motorway run, the lead car carrying the Tourist Trophy, before regrouping at Towcester Racecourse, then a parade to the circuit for a lap of the Grand Prix circuit (behind the pace car).

Among the 30 or so cars already signed up are factory entered cars from Aston Martin (Vanquish S, DB9 Volante and V8 Vantage), Jaguar (XK Convertible), Ascari (KZ1) and (appropriately) a foursome of Maserati Quattroportes and a Gransport from Maserati GB.

The latest high performance AMG Mercedes are also represented, together with a Ferrari 430, a rare Morgan Aero 8 GTN, plus cars representing the Bentley and Porsche marques, and a trio of little Lotus Exiges.

A Corvette and a Viper are promised too, but perhaps the highlight for roadside observers will be the promised appearance of the one and only remaining TVR Cerbera Speed 12, a single example having been reconstructed using parts of the now obsolete race cars.

Anyone with an appropriate roadcar can still register to take part. Entry is £195.00 (Including VAT) per car including driver and one passenger.
