Deletraz-Piccini In Phoenix DBR9
DTM team (and now FIA GT team) Phoenix Racing has confirmed that Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini will continue their long-standing FIA GT partnership by racing together again this year – in an Aston Martin DBR9.

"As well as our DTM commitments, this opportunity presents a further step forward for the future of the enterprise," explains team manager Dirk Theimann. "We are extremely pleased to run this fantastic Aston Martin in the GT1 class. With our tire partner Michelin we have the best conditions for a successful entrance into this series."

The team suggests that this will be the first of two DBR9s that it will race in the FIA GT Championship.

Deletraz and Piccini raced a BMS Ferrari 550 in 2002, a Lister Storm in 2003, one of the unsuccessful DAMS Lamborghinis in 2004 and a GPC Sport 575 in 2005. They took four wins together in 2002. Their first test in the car will come at the Dijon test days next month (April 11/12).

They will race on Michelin rubber, as opposed to the BMS cars on Pirellis. The Cirtek / Russian Age Aston Martin won the last race of the 2005 FIA GT Championship, also on Michelins, but this team will be concentrating on the LMS this year.
