Revised FIA GT Calendar
Below is how the FIA GT calendar currently stands, with eight events definitely confirmed and two more to be announced next week.

There are some significant changes compared to the original calendar:

1. Bucarest is no longer the opening race of the season (it is put back to October 1- so the season starts at Silverstone)
2. There are no other changes up to and including the Spa 24 Hours
3. The French race on September 3 is now at Dijon, not Magny-Cours
4. Two weeks later, the Italian event is at Mugello, not Imola
5. Zhuhai, Bahrain and Dubai currently becomes Dubai only, on November 17 – although there are the two other races to be confirmed.

The SRO statement points out that “In order to improve the quality of the FIA GT events, SRO has modified the 2006 provisional calendar, selecting the circuits best adapted to GT racing with event promoters dedicated to attracting and entertaining the public. We also had to take into account the desire of teams to reduce the number of overseas events in 2006."
