Cocker In A Barwell DBRS9
Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Champion Jonathan Cocker will be racing a Barwell Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9 in this year’s FIA European GT3 Championship, partnering the already announced Leo Machitsky (the owner of this car).”This is a new championship and up to now there are around 50 cars on the grid, which is amazing,” said the 19 year old – the British GT Champion in 2004.

"To start with I'll be racing against my team mates Tiff Needell and Tom Alexander which will be hard enough plus there are some incredible cars involved which include Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, TVR and the new Ascari KZ1 GT3. It's going to be very competitive but the DBRS9 is amazing - we're in it to win the championship."

Three in a row?

“We are very pleased to have a young driver of Jonathan’s calibre in our team,” comments Barwell MD, Mark Lemmer, “and it will be very exciting to see if he can claim his third GT title in a row in a Barwell Aston Martin DBRS9!”

Cocker and Machitsky may also take in a number of Avon Tyres British GT Championship rounds, racing the Aston Martin in the GT3 Class.

Tom Alexander and Tiff Needell will carry out a shakedown test with their car at Snetterton on February 27, while Cocker and Machitsky will get their first runs when the team tests at Guadix in Spain at the end of March. The team is currently talking to suitable drivers with regards to the two seats still available in the third FIA GT3 European Championship car.
