Steve Hyde Goes Emotional
British GT racer Steve Hyde will race the Emotional Engineering Monaro this year – in a programme of events that hasn’t been finally decided yet.

Hyde (right) raced the Eclipse Mosler in British GTs last year, with Phil Keen, but switches to the big front-engined beast for 2006.

"Vauxhall's road version is a fantastic bit of kit so I can only imagine what the race car will be like,” says Steve Hyde. “I know the squad have had their fair share of teething troubles, but what race team on the way up hasn't? I'm going to be giving it my all this year."

Emotional Engineering has used a number of preparers in the past, but for the new season, the car will be based at West Surrey Racing.

“Getting Steve on board is a great step and being based at WSR is just another part of this,” says team manager Allen Orchard. “By being amongst an engineering firm of their calibre we're learning every day. We've got an interesting race calendar for 2006, picking a collection of rewarding events rather than necessarily contesting a single championship. I'm itching to get back to the track."

Orchard has long wished to race the car in longer events, and the Le Mans (Endurance) Series has been mentioned in the past, as a series that the team wanted to explore. Matt Griffin and Ryan Hooker actually took a (G2) class win in the Monaro in the British GT / FIA GT event at Magny-Cours last year (below).
