British GT2 Round-Up
The British GT2 grid for 2006 seems to be taking shape, with details
beginning to emerge of the potential for headlining GT2 runners.
Among them of
course is Eclipse Motorsport’s Mosler – it was spotted
yesterday (February 17) testing at Donington Park, with 2005 driver
Phil Keen reportedly joined by ex-TVR Tuscan and sometime T400R
racer Lee Caroline.
While no 2006 season deal is yet confirmed, the
combination of a well sorted Mosler, plus Keen and Caroline would
surely prove to be a potent challenger for the title.
The ex- Cadena
Mosler will now be prepared by Rollcentre for car owner Kevin
Riley and Ian Flux whilst the Vauxhall Monaro of Emotional Engineering
is another confirmed GT2 entrant,
but again with the driver line-up
as yet unconfirmed.
plans are still firming up but don’t count out seeing Bob
Neville’s squad out with the Nissan 350Z. Whether that is
in the UK in GT2 or elsewhere in another class still remains to
be seen though.
Add in the Jones
brothers' Porsche, the Team LNT Panoz and a Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari,
and these comprise the known / expected entries in GT2.
As briefly mentioned in the confirmation of the
FFSA 2006 calendar, the season finale for the GT2 runners is now
confirmed as Magny-Cours (alongside the FFSA GTs), but a week later
than originally announced on (now October 20-22).
