Penders
Out, Basseng In
ProSpeed driver Rudi Penders will not race in this weekend’s
Belcar even at Zolder. He went off heavily during the penultimate
round of the Belcar series at Spa two weeks ago and his injuries
keep him from racing this weekend.
ProSpeed is
actually second in class 2, 12 points behind the class leader, the
GS Motorsport pair Georg Severich and Mario Josten with the BMW
M3 GTR V8.
Serge Vanbockrijck,
PR-man of ProSpeed explains: “Rudi wants to be at full force
and he’s not, so he decided not to race at Zolder. The team
can still claim the title in Belcar class 2, so Rudi made the decision
not to race.”
The team also
announced that Marc Basseng replaces Rudi Penders this weekend.
The Porsche test driver and VLN racer is a strong replacement. Basseng
won the last round of the VLN with Patrick Simon, in the Land Porsche.
