SRT Corvette Drivers In ‘05
We seem to have had a number of Corvette news items recently –
with the likelihood of some more during the next month.
Today’s
item confirms that Marc Goossens will continue to race Patrick Selleslagh’s
SRT Corvette C5-R next season, but that his new partner will be
David Hart. As observant readers might have spotted, Hart’s
Viper GTS-R (Chassis C39) is for
sale.
"David has enormous experience in Belcar and FIA-GT and it
will certainly reinforce our team," says regular driver Marc
Goossens. “The decision easy, and was taken by all the team:
SRT also consulted me, which I appreciated enormously.”
“We would like
to thank the forces behind SRT, like Sara Lee and CPL Trans, for
their renewed confidence "
"The combination
of Marc Goossens and the Corvette C5-R are undoubtedly the best
in Belgium,” says the new Corvette driver. “I decided
to sell Hart Vastgoed Racing and I was thus in search of a new opportunity.
I could not say "No" to the proposal. Our goal will be
to win on each occasion, but also to try to conquer the crown in
Belcar: the national championship is very important to our sponsor,
Sara Lee. I have also underlined the Marlboro Masters in my diary
and probably, the 24 hours of Spa.”
Four of the
Belcar races clash with FIA GT events, which might have had some
influence on the circumstances here. It will be a pleasure to observe
these two racing the Corvette next season. Marc Goossens and Patrick
Selleslagh will shortly be visiting GM in North America to look
at the options for upgrading the (so far) only European C5-R.
