Panoz Esperante – 2005 Testing Already
Gunnar Jeannette was out testing at Road Atlanta on Tuesday of this week, as Panoz Motor Sports begins work with the Esperante in the ‘off-season’, prior to Sebring’s 12 Hours next March.

“We’re just starting our testing and development preparations for a winning season in 2005 and beyond,” explains General Manager Ed Triolo. “Our goal is to become an economical and successful American-based alternative to Porsche and Ferrari in the American Le Mans Series."

“We’re quite pleased with the progress made (this year), especially toward the season’s end.

“Since our Mid-Ohio debut, the great fan reaction and support to the Panoz racing marque have gratified the entire team. The fan response to this throaty sounding, front-engine, and American-made sports car has been phenomenal. We’re looking forward to keeping everyone posted on our road to Sebring ’05 and beyond.”

The Esperante finished seventh in GT at Laguna Seca (in the hands of Jeannette and Marino Franchitti - below), but on the same lap as the Petersen-White Lightning Porsche – with a best lap only half a second slower than the Michelin-shod GT3-RSR.
