Munday Becomes Sole Owner Of BAM!
Tim Munday and Peter Baron have agreed to restructure the ownership
of the BAM! team, such that Munday will assume sole ownership, perhaps
as soon as August 1, by buying the 50% share holding of Peter Baron.
Technical and Race Director
Tim Munday will therefore also assume responsibility for the team's
business operations. The team’s schedule remains the same:
the six races that remain in the ALMS, with Leo Hindery being partnered
by a selection of Porsche factory drivers (Lucas Luhr, Sascha Maassen,
“Tim and I had
a difference of opinion on how BAM! should go forward, and when
we couldn't agree on a common vision, it felt best for both of us
to split the partnership,” comments Peter Baron. “I'm
proud of my contributions toward making BAM! one of the premier
GT teams in the ALMS and in helping lay the strong foundation that
Tim and the team can build on for future success. And I will always
cherish my seven years racing with Leo -- after all, we share tattoos!"
Hindery and Baron acquired
matching tattoos after their second-place finish at Le Mans in 2003.
"I will miss my
friend Peter Baron, and I wish we could have resolved our differences,”
sums up Tim Munday. “Thanks in no small part to Peter's support,
BAM! has had remarkable success in its first nine months of operation,
including a magical run at the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans, and I am
confident about our prospects going forward."
”Peter Baron first
taught me the phrase '10/10ths' and then he taught me how to turn
right,” says Leo Hindery. “He also taught me the worth
of friendship, and I will greatly miss my tattoo-mate.”
We hope we haven't
seen the last of Peter Baron in the ALMS, and at Le Mans. Here are
Leo Hindery and Tim Munday, in New York on June 30.
