Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx - More Testing News
Thanks to Martyn Pass at Audi Sport UK, we discover that Frank Biela set a 1:12.42 at Road Atlanta yesterday, while covering 50 laps of the Georgia track. That time would have put him second on the grid for the 2003 Petit Le Mans, seven tenths behind his then team-mate Marco Werner.

Allan McNish has yet to drive the latest R8, but will get his chance tomorrow. Thursday is a day off for the team.

The two chassis are 603 (for Biela / McNish / Kaffer), the Audi UK car from last year, which finished third at Le Mans in 2002, running as the black car for Krumm, Peter and Werner, and 604 (Davies / Herbert / Smith), which was last year's car for Frank Biela and Marco Werner in the ALMS.

The delightful 'paint job' on the two Audis was created by Veloqx Vi$ionz, a group company based in Hong Kong.

Regis Lefebure forwards these extra images from Wednesday's test. That's Guy Smith pulling on his gloves (yellow helmet), Allan McNish looking ready to go, Jamie Davies looking thoughtful, and former Panoz / Cadillac engineer Chris Gorne in conversation with Guy Smith (as Davies pulls on his balaclava).

Jamie Davies on the R8:"The car is awesome - it lived up to its incredible reputation. I felt at 'home' very quickly and is quite easy to drive, giving you confidence immediately. I found nothing particularly difficult to get used to, although obviously it is totally different to the Ferrari I've driven for the past couple of years. I'd completed a lap in the R8 at Audi's proving ground near Ingolstadt last month so this was my first real run. I'm due to drive again on Friday and then again on Monday and I'm like a big kid, can't wait to get behind the wheel again."
