Le Mans 1000 Km - Schedule

Saturday's schedule is an odd one. Andy Wallace: "Jan and I have worked out that if we do a very quick driver change in the middle of free practice, we'll have nine laps each before Qualifying starts - and we'll be doing that on qualifying tyres of course....and we won't have time to try them if we've got only nine laps each."

This situation arises because the schedule today is as follows:

09.00 - 09.45 - Free practice, all classes (Revised this morning to 09.00 - 09.45)

10.30 - 11.00 - GT & GTS Qualifying (10.30 - 11.15)

11.15 - 11.45 - Prototype Qualifying (11.25 - 12.10)

14.00 - 14.30 - GT & GTS Second Qualifying (14.00 - 14.25)

14.45 - 15.15 - Prototype Second Qualifying.(15.00 - 15.45)

Our plan is to keep up to date with times being set and post the free practice times as one table, qualifying as another (updated session by session). Our text will come at the end of the day.

So for those who haven't paid to test on Thursday (or Wednesday or Tuesday or Monday) - tough luck, it's half an hour, then qualify. Perhaps this way though, the second session times will be more meaningful.

As of 07.00 this morning, it's still pitch dark, so with dawn at approaching 08.00 here and dusk at 17.45 or so, the race (with its noon start on Sunday) will finish in the dark at some time after 18.00. At least the finishing driver will experience the dark beforehand...as it descends over the track!

Yesterday was a relaxing day for most (not all of course), and lacked the tension of the build-up to the 24 hours. It's less of an event, more of a race - and no poorer for that.

The forecast is still fine for the weekend we believe, with just a suspicion that Monday's forecast rain could arrive earlier.

PS. Our entry list is still as good as we can find at the moment...with just a couple of cars to check.
