Gary
Horrocks found himself (!) in Arizona this week, at the Pima Museum
- basically a piece of desert across the highway from Davis-Monthan
Air Base. A refreshing change from sportscar racing, with another
gallery to come during Easter.
”There are four hangers that house some of the more elaborately
restored WWII aircraft, while the rest are pretty much scattered across
the desert, but in an organized way. There are something like 250
aircraft on site. Unfortunately, the weather is taking its toll on
some of the planes, as you can tell, but it is probably better in
the desert than many other places. This is probably the greatest display
in the western states, and is possibly only bettered by the Air Force
and Navy Air museums as far as actual planes viewable on site. I'll
make it to those someday. The museum’s website is www.pimaair.org.” |
