British GT Championship - Brands Hatch Title Showdown - Quick Race Report
It's Decided - TOM HERRIDGE!

It didn't quite develop the way we might have expected. Whatever that was.

With the rival cars of Jamie Derbyshire and Shane Lynch eliminated in accidents, Tom Herridge became Champion, as Martin Short brought the Rollcentre Mosler home to its second consecutive win.

Derbyshire was unfortunate enough to have been struck by Bob Berridge at Paddock very early on, ending up buried in the gravel. Shane Lynch went off when Alan Bonner spun in front of him in the ISL Mantis, wrecking the Eclipse TVR against the barrier.

Short came home comfortably ahead of Ricky Cole (Driver of the Day) in the Xero Corvette, with Mike Youles and Peter Cook having great fun in the 911 GT2, third. Glenn and Dan Eagling scored an excellent fourth, with the CDL TVR fifth...so it was best result of the year for Xero and for the Eagling team.

The Cup Class wasn't another Porsche win - Neil Cunningham took it on the last lap, from Dean Lanzante in the #30 Lotus - although the Elise had looked secure until the rain came down just before the end. Tom Shrimpton and Liz Halliday were third.

So oddly, Tom Herridge could have played a fuller role at Spa, and still ended up as Champion. He didn't win until the tenth race (and then the eleventh), but he is the Champion. Wonder what Shorty thinks about that aborted drive in the FIA GT Championship. He described himself as a "bloomin' idiot."

But not when he chose a Mosler. Warren was present to see his car's success.
