Belcar – Spa Racing Festival – Saturday Morning
A Wet Start

Practice and qualifying here today, with racing
on Sunday - but already, on Friday evening, there was news to be
found in the paddock. Two former mechanics of PSI Motorsport confirm
the news that Christian Schumacher’s team has been sold to
Frenchman Phillipe Thillie. The latter is a French entrepreneur
and drove for the team in 2004 in the French FFSA-GT series and
at Spa. The consequences of this deal are so far not clear, but
most of the mechanics seem to be gone and replaced by new ones.
With Bert Longin driving the RTM Porsche this weekend,
we hear that RTM could end its Belcar career here. Patrick Bastiaens
confirmed that a good offer for the Porsche 996 Biturbo and even
the trucks would be considered.
Good news on the entry list; the Stealth B6 of Van
Moerkerke and De Dryver is back. The car was last seen at Spa in
April. Also last April was René Snel and his Porsche 996
GT3-RS: Donny Crevels partners him this weekend. A pleasant surprise
is the presence of Cor Euser in the Gillet Vertigo. Together with
Van Vaerenbergh, the Dutchman will certainly try to secure a podium
for the little Belgian car.
On the entry list too, Guido Werckx and Marc Neyens
with a E36 BMW. No big deal one could say but this makes five cars
in TA and so full points for them. That’s good news for Touring
car leader Patrick Beliën, as he is able to score full points
now.
