Belcar – Spa Racing Festival – Qualifying Report

The weather was awful at Spa yesterday - wet, either steady rain or lighter drizzle, and cold. So first qualifying was a Michelin affair, with Vincent Vosse setting best time, with the Corvette in second position. The Porsche Biturbo from PSI, RS Racing, GLPK and AD Sport took places from 3rd to 8th except for 6th - that went to the incredible BMW V8 GTR of Severich / Steinberg. The TT Porsche of Lamot / Penders was first in GTB. A good performance came from the Vertigo in 12th while the Xero Corvette was 15th.

Second qualifying was held with the rain holding off, but the track was still wet. Marc Goossens came close to the Vosse time but did not manage to take over pole. After 400 days of SRT domination, we have another team on pole, a second pole for Kuismanen since the Zolder 24 hours 2003.

Sad news for the Xero Corvette: the car hit the wall at Blanchimont and it looked like an early for Ricky Cole / Pete James.
