After the free
practice this morning, Friday, Anthony Kumpen (GLPK Viper) was fastest
followed by David Hart (Corvette) and Vincent Vosse (Kuismanen Viper).
Qualifying followed at 15.25, with the second session on Saturday,
before the race on Saturday evening.
Odd numbers were first to come out of the pitlane
and Kumpen set a promising 2.19.369 after just three laps. The SRT
Corvette passed by very slowly: a problem? Yes, there was, the session
wass red flagged – but it wasn’t the C5-R in trouble.
A BMW in the gravel…
Right after the green light, Goossens decided to
take provisional pole, with a 2.17.314. Anthony Beltoise was surprisingly
quick in the PSI GT3-RSR. He set a stunning 2.24.125, only two seconds
behind Palttala in the PSI Biturbo.
Marc Goossen’s pole time is the quickest ever
in Belcar. It’s even some tenths faster than his sixth position
time in last year’s 24 hours of Spa.
Five minutes before the end of the session, the
little Elise of Ménage / Delcour went off at the Raidillon
and the session was red flagged again. The car caught fire but Sylvie
Delcour was OK.
