Preview - Belcar Open Nissan

This weekend, we’ll see the second round of the Belcar championship, again at Zolder. The Open Nissan Weekend will not only offer cup-races and the second round of the national endurance championship, but we’ll also see two races of the very spectacular Formula Nissan series.

This international flavour seems to have inspired some teams, as we’ll see four Vipers on the entry-list for the first time in Belcar history.

Belmondo Racing joins the Belcar troops! Claude-Yves Gosselin and Vincent Vosse will race the first French Viper while team boss Paul Belmondo will partner 2002 FIA GT man Marc Duez: top step of the podium? The team has also confirmed their presence for the next race at Spa.

The only regret the spectators might have is seeing the Vosse Viper going round bearing #17. This was the number of the Buurman Marcos LM600, but the car is too heavily damaged and will not return this weekend.

The arrival of Belmondo means a serious threat to GLPK, certainly with Anthony Kumpen racing at Magny-Cours. Cohen and his new team-mate Vincent Dupont will have to battle until the end of the 125 minute race. In the GLPK Porsche, David Hart joins Fred Bouvy, because Bert Longin also is on duty in France.

The GTB winner of the last race, Franz Lamot, will race again with his former mate Bart Cauwbergh. Kurt Mollekens is at Zolder but his managing role in the KTR Formula Nissan team prevents him from racing.

AD also sees a new driver in their GT3 Porsche. Ruben Maes still has some problems with his Bora TDI and joins Jos Menten in the very fast AD 911.

Last but not least Mr Rain will probably replace Mr Sun – the forecast is for a wet weekend, after another fine week in much of NW Europe.
