PHR Scuderia BMW M3 V8
The PHR Scuderia outfit is an interesting one: entries in Class A at Bathurst for a Ferrari 360 Modena, a 911 GT3-RS – and a brand new BMW M3.

dailysportscar.comThe five litre M3 is a recent arrival from the USA, and John Bowe shook it down at Winton Motor Speedway on November 12.

But PHR Scuderia Team Manager Terry Little pointed out that a software component was missing from the car when it arrived in Australia.

“Basically some software (in the engine management system) was left out when the car left America. It was running lean (at Winton) so we brought it home and we are now waiting for the software so we can try again.

“We are a little bit concerned about the 24 Hour as we don’t know what the car will do. Our problems are compounded by the car running late and something being left out. We will then retest as soon as we get it (the engine software).”

The BMW M3 GTR features an M5 engine and a six speed Hewland gearbox.

It’s difficult to forecast how well this one might perform next week, but with John Bowe, Greg Crick, Brad Jones and Maher Algadri at the wheel, it ought to be quick – and perfect for driving up steep hills.
